Guilelm Şorban
Guilelm Şorban (born February 2, 1876 in Arad , † July 7, 1923 in Dej ) was a Romanian composer and pianist.
Life
He published the work Ten Romanian Folk Songs in Leipzig in 1894 and the Romanian Compositions Album in Vienna in 1900 , in which there are two original texts by George Coşbuc .
Guilelm Şorban became known through his songs I only have one torment and next to unequal poplars , as well as My pain and He, innkeeper Niculae . Many of his songs circulate anonymously. He has composed over 100 pieces, some of them based on the texts of the Romanian poets Mihai Eminescu , Octavian Goga , and George Coşbuc .
He is the father of the art critic Raoul Sorban and the grandfather of the musicologist Elena Maria Sorban .
