Guillaume d'Hugues

Guillaume d'Hugues de la Mothe (* 1690 at Gap, † January 1774 in Grenoble ) was a French clergyman . He became Commendatarabb of the Cistercian monastery of Varennes in 1723 , Bishop of Nevers in 1741 and Archbishop of Vienne in 1751 .

Guillaume d'Hugues de la Mothe was born in 1690 in his father's castle la Mothe near Gap , Hautes-Alpes , France. In 1723 he received the abbey of the Cistercian monastery of Varennes. In 1740 he was elected Bishop of Nevers and consecrated bishop on March 5, 1751. In 1751 he was appointed Archbishop of Vienne. On July 25, 1751, he received confirmation from Pope Benedict XIV. The benefice brought him 25,000 livres annually . He died in Grenoble in January 1774.
