Guillaume de Rochefort

Guillaume de Rochefort (* 1433 in Rochefort-sur-Nenon , Franche-Comté ; † 1492) was under the kings of Louis XI. and Charles VIII Chancellor of France .

Life

Guillaume de Rochefort was born in Rochefort-sur-Nenon in the later Jura department . He entered the service of the Dukes of Burgundy Philip the Good and Charles the Bold . Shortly after the latter's death, in 1477, he resigned and went to the royal court, where he became chancellor in 1483. He was the chairman of the Estates-General of Tours in 1484 and was later appointed to prepare the treaties for the marriage of Charles VIII to Anne de Bretagne .

Guillaume was married to Anne de La Trémoille, daughter of Louis I. de La Trémoille from the La Trémoille house . His brother was Guy de Rochefort , who also became chancellor in 1497.
