Guillaume de Villaret , also Wilhelm von Villaret , Wilhelmus Villaretus , († 1307 in Limassol ) was a nobleman from Provence and from 1296 to 1305 the 24th Grand Master of the Order of St. John .

Around 1284 Guillaume had been Grand Prior of St. Gilles . Before that he was rector of Comtat Venaissin .

After the knights were expelled from the " Holy Land " (see also Akkon ) and now resided in Cyprus , a certain licentiousness had spread in the order. An attempt to recapture a base on the mainland near Tartus in 1300 had to be aborted without success due to the lack of support from the allied Mongols (see also the siege of Aruad ). Villaret restored discipline in the order and planned to conquer the island of Rhodes as a new base .

His brother Foulques de Villaret, who succeeded him in the office of Grand Master after Guillaume had resigned in 1305, was able to realize this plan.

Guillaume died in Limassol, Cyprus, in 1307.
