Guillermo Rojas y Arrieta

Guillermo Rojas y Arrieta CM (born June 25, 1855 in Cartago , Costa Rica , † February 4, 1933 ) was a Costa Rican clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Panama .

Life

Guillermo Rojas y Arrieta joined the religious order of the Lazarists and was ordained a priest on November 22, 1882 .

Pope Pius X appointed him Bishop of Panama on March 21, 1912 . The bishop of San José de Costa Rica , Juan Gaspar Stork CM, donated him episcopal ordination on August 18 of the same year .

After the elevation of the diocese to the archbishopric, he was appointed the first archbishop of Panama on December 14, 1925. The official inauguration took place on May 9 of the following year.
