background
In April 2008, Tisdale said she had recorded a few songs for a new album and that she would be focusing on the album after finishing High School Musical 3 . She found that the songs from her album contain a message and story and that everyone can identify with it. Her music has been influenced by Katy Perry and Pat Benatar, among others. The song "Switch" can also be heard in the film Die Noobs - Klein Butieder , in which she plays one of the leading roles.
“I worked on the second album for a year and it's very different from the first album. There was a lot to learn about yourself on the first album. I learned what I like, although I thought I liked pop and R&B, I found that I prefer the "rock sound". I'm 23 now and I've grown taller and wanted to show that I've become more snappy and mature. I am now showing a different side of myself that people did not know about me. "
Content of the songs
Tisdale said the song "Hot Mess" was "about hanging out with a bad boy that makes life more interesting." The song "How Do You Love Someone" is "about a girl who deals with the separation of her parents". Tisdale also co-wrote some of the lyrics, such as the song "What If". Describing this song as the most personal, Tisdale said, "It's written about a relationship you're in, and you ask, 'If I really need you, would you be there?'".
