The Gulfstream G280 is a super midsize business jet from the manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace .
history
The G280 is the successor to the Gulfstream G200 . Like its predecessor, it is also being built in cooperation with the Israeli company IAI , with IAI taking over the basic and Gulfstream the interior equipment. Work on the aircraft has been going on since 2005. Test pilot Ronen Schapira took off on December 11, 2009 from Ben Gurion International Airport on the first flight of the G280. The test flight lasted three hours and 21 minutes. The first machines should be delivered in the same year after the planned type certification in 2011. The price is planned to be $ 24 million. Originally named G250, the manufacturer announced in July 2011 that the aircraft would be renamed G280, as the combination of numbers "250" in Mandarin can be read as "stupid" or "idiotic". The approval by the Federal Aviation Administration and its Israeli counterpart CAAI took place on September 4, 2011, which can be regarded as the date of commissioning.
technology
From the G200, the G280 only takes over the fuselage for the most part, with the fuselage tank being left out (with 9200 liters, about 250 liters less than the G200), giving a cabin length of 40 cm. Among other things, this benefits the enlarged washing and toilet area. Furthermore, they are equipped with wings (from Spirit AeroSystem ) with an improved profile and larger winglets , the cross is replaced by a T-tail and new Honeywell HTF7250G engines are equipped with 25% more power and lower consumption as well as less noise. A package based on the Pro Line Fusion from Rockwell Collins with three screens with a diagonal of 38 cm is used as avionics . A heads-up display and a 3D weather radar are available as options.
