The Gulfstream G400 (originally called the Gulfstream IV marketed) is a business aircraft manufacturer's Gulfstream Aerospace .

history

Gulfstream began work on what was initially known as the Gulfstream IV in 1983 . The first flight took place on September 19, 1985 and the type was approved by the FAA in April 1987. The improved GIV-SP followed in 1992, which had its maiden flight on June 24, 1992, and development of the actual G400 began in 1997. 2002 was the GIV then renamed G400 and introduced the Gulfstream G300 as a variant of the GIV. The Gulfstream G400 has a large cabin and an intercontinental range of 8060 km. Typical flight altitude is about 13,700 meters (45,000 feet ) at a speed of Mach 0.86-0.88 (about 911-932 km / h ). The list price of the G400 in 2004 was 36 million US dollars . Based on the G400, the upgraded version Gulfstream G450 was brought onto the market in 2003. The G450 performs better in terms of range and speed.

In mid-2010, the G450 was further improved so that the maximum take-off weight could be increased to 33,838 kg and thus the payload by 318 kg. The last G450 was delivered in early 2018. At that time, 360 aircraft of this type were still in service worldwide. The Gulfstream G500 is offered as the successor .

The G400 and G450 are mainly used for the transport of members of government, managers of large companies or also for wealthy individuals.

The Gulfstream G400 / G450 is used by the armed forces of Botswana , Egypt , Ireland , Ivory Coast , Japan , the Netherlands , Sweden , Turkey and the United States .
