Gunnar Ortmann

Gunnar Ortmann (born July 26, 1947 in Søborggård Sogn ) is a Danish diplomat .

Life

In 1975 he graduated with a degree in political science . In the same year he began his diplomatic career in the Danish Foreign Ministry . From 1976 he worked as a secretary in the Saudi Arabian Jeddah . In 1979 he went back to Copenhagen and became head of department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1984 he became a consultant in Bonn until he became head of the Department for European Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988. In 1992 he became State Secretary. In 1995 he took over the function of the Danish ambassador to Sweden . After a further period in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was Danish Ambassador to Germany from 2001 to 2005 and then to Austria . He was also the permanent representative of Denmark to the United Nations in Vienna and to UNIDO . In addition, he was the Danish ambassador to Macedonia , and from 2006 he was also the Danish ambassador to Malta .

Family and personal

Ortmann is married to Anne Lise Ortmann and has two children.
