Gunther Sieg (born June 30, 1936 in Münster ; † January 9, 2008 in Lengerich ) was a German politician and former member of the state parliament ( SPD ).

Life and work

After visiting the elementary school and the high school with the completion of high school , he studied at the University of Muenster law . He passed the first and second state exams and worked for the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association and as a lawyer .

Sieg became a member of the SPD in 1964. He was represented in numerous party committees, including a. as deputy subdistrict chairman.

Gunther Sieg was mayor of the old town of Tecklenburg from 1969 until the municipal reform in 1974. From 1979 to 1984 he was mayor of the town of Tecklenburg, which was newly formed by local government reform.

From May 29, 1980 to June 2, 2005, Sieg was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in each constituency 097 Steinfurt III.

From 1963 to 1989 Sieg was a member of the council of the city of Tecklenburg and from 1968 to 1975 belonged to the district council of the Tecklenburg district and from 1975 to 1981 to the district council of the Steinfurt district .

Sieg was a member of the twelfth Federal Assembly , which elected Federal President Horst Köhler on May 23, 2004 .
