Guntis Sics
Guntis Sics is an Australian sound engineer and sound engineer .
Life
Sics began his career in the film staff in 1991 as a sound assistant and subsequently worked on successful Australian film productions such as Priscilla - Queen of the Desert , A Pig called Babe and Piggy Babe in the Big City . 2002 he was responsible for Baz Luhrmann's musical drama Moulin Rouge along with Andy Nelson , Anna Behlmer and Roger Savage for the Oscar in the category Best Sound nominated, but the award went this year to the war film Black Hawk Down , directed by Ridley Scott . At the BAFTA Film Awards ceremony that same year , however, Moulin Rouge prevailed over the competition. Sics also worked with Luhrmann on Australia in 2008 and on The Great Gatsby in 2013 .
In addition to his engagements in film, Sics was also active in television, and in 2001 he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his work on Richard Pearce's television film South Pacific . He was also nominated five times between 1992 and 2009 for the AFI Award of the American Film Institute , which he won in 2001.
