Guntram Weissenberger
Guntram Weissenberger (* 1926 in Frankenmarkt ; † December 22, 2012 in Wayne , buried in the family grave in Frankenmarkt) was an Austrian - American architect and building contractor who mainly dealt with issues of urban development .
Life
Guntram Weissenberger visited the Federal Educational Institute for Boys in Traiskirchen . After his military service, he began studying architecture at the Graz University of Technology and at the same time applied for a scholarship in the USA for the commander of the 42nd US Infantry Division "Rainbow", Major General Harry J. Collins , who was stationed in Salzburg at the time , had written out. Weissenberger then continued his studies at Harvard , where he earned a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration degrees . He then returned to Austria and completed his studies in Graz in 1950 with a doctorate .

In 1956, Weissenberger went self-employed as a building contractor near Philadelphia ( Pennsylvania ) and founded Westover Companies. In the following years he shaped the shape of the suburbs of Philadelphia by building numerous office buildings, supermarkets, schools, parks and playgrounds, especially in King of Prussia , where the company he founded is based. Weissenberger retired at the end of the 1990s and lived alternately in the USA and in Salzburg . In addition to awards for social construction, he was honored with the Austrian Abroad Prize in 1997 and made an honorary citizen of Frankenmarkt in 2004.
