Zhengtang Guo

Zhengtang Guo ( Chinese  郭 正 堂 ; * 1964 in Shanxi ) is a Chinese geologist and paleoclimatologist . He is a professor at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences .

Life

Guo completed a bachelor's degree at the University of Peking in 1983 , a master's degree at the University of Bordeaux I in 1985 and a doctoral degree at the University of Pierre and Marie Curie in 1990 . From 2002 to 2006, he was the general director of the Earth Environment Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Act

Guo's research includes Cenozoic geology , paleopedology, and paleoclimatology . He thus deals with climate change on a historical scale. A particular achievement of Guo and his colleagues is the expansion of the Chinese loess database from 8 to 22 million years. He was involved in research on finds of the Stone Age Acheuléen culture in the sites Bogu and Gaolingpo in the Bose Basin .
