The Gustav Heinemann Bridge , also known as the North Bridge, is a road bridge in the north of the East Westphalian city of Minden , which spans the Weser in the course of the city ring. In the east, the district of the right bank of the Weser, it is connected to the port and the industrial area of Minden, from the west it takes up the four-lane ring around the city of Minden.

location

The Gustav-Heinemann-Brücke is located in the area of the city of Minden near the districts of Nordstadt in the west and the right bank of the Weser in the east. It is the most northerly crossing of the Weser in the area of the city of Minden, to the north a crossing is only possible as part of the state road 770 in the city of Petershagen, around 20 kilometers to the north.

history

The road bridge, then known as the North Bridge, was built in the 1970s as a prestressed concrete bridge . The load-bearing part is designed according to the haunched 2-web T-beam system. The abutments were deeply established. The ramp to the west had to overcome the jump in terrain onto the central terrace. Since the slope shouldn't be too big, the ascending route leads through a trough . At the Marienstraße intersection, the road is tunneled under; at the Stiftsallee intersection, it is threaded into normal traffic with a large intersection. In 1971 the bridge and road were opened to traffic.

With it and the so-called Südbrücke at that time , the city of Minden and the central Weser crossing at the bridge gate should be relieved. The connections from the north and south bridges to the surrounding area have only been partially implemented.

The bridge is named after the former Federal President Gustav Heinemann .
