Gustav Adolf Seeck

Gustav Adolf Seeck (born November 12, 1933 ) is a German classical philologist .

Seeck studied classical philology and philosophy at the Universities of Göttingen , Munich and Kiel . He received his doctorate in 1962. After a research stay at the Center for Hellenic Studies at Harvard University (1967/1968), he completed his habilitation in 1970. In 1981 he was appointed full professor of classical philology at the University of Frankfurt am Main , where he taught until his retirement in 1999.

Seeck deals with ancient philosophy, ancient drama, epic and literary theory. Since 1978 he has been co-editor of the Zetemata series .
