Thomas Paulsen
Thomas Paulsen (born June 21, 1959 in Konstanz ) is a German classical philologist .
Life
After graduating from the Heinrich-Suso-Gymnasium Konstanz in 1978, Paulsen passed the first state examination in 1984/85 after studying Latin and Greek at the University of Konstanz . From 1985 to 1992 he worked alternately as a research assistant in Konstanz, where he supervised Latinum courses, and as a research assistant at the Ruhr University in Bochum . Here he was in 1992 with the dissertation staging of fate. Tragedy and comedy in the novel of Heliodorus doctorate . From 1993 to 1998 he was a research assistant, in 1998 he completed his habilitation and in 1999 he was appointed university lecturer. In 2004 he moved to the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , where he held the Chair of Greek Studies until 2005 . On September 29, 2005, he was appointed professor and full professor .
Thomas Paulsen actively played chess at the chess club at the University of Bochum in 1969 . His best German rating (DWZ) was 1,784 in 2004.
Research priorities
Paulsen deals with the Attic tragedy, with Greek historiography, with political rhetoric and with the ancient novel. He is currently working on a research report on Demosthenes for the journal Lustrum . He is also a collaborator on the volume "Greek Literature" in the field of speakers and rhetoric of classical music. The volume is part of the " Handbook of Classical Science " series. Paulsen belongs to the Graduate School 237 "Commentary in Antiquity and the Middle Ages".
