Gustav Albert John

Gustav Albert John (born September 25, 1808 in Stapelburg , † November 7, 1873 in Quedlinburg ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

John was the son of the pastor in Stapelburg Christian Friedrich John (1756-1815) and his second wife Sophie Philippine Jakobi. From 1818 to 1823 he attended the Lyceum in Wernigerode and then until 1827 the Ilfeld pedagogy . He studied theology at the University of Halle from 1827 to 1829 and then went to the University of Berlin , where he successfully passed the exam as a theologian in 1831. He then worked privately as a candidate for a few years. In 1836 he was given the position of informator with Count Anton zu Stolberg-Wernigerode , which he held until 1840. In the same year, after his ordination, he was appointed pastor in Ampfurth . Also in 1840, John married Caroline Auguste Marie Bollmann in Magdeburg . In January 1852 he moved to Neinstedt as pastor , where he served until his retirement on October 15, 1873. John was also active as a composer.
