Bretschneider & Krügner
Bretschneider & Krügner was a factory for the manufacture of iron structures . The company founded by Gustav Alois Bretschneider and Richard Krügner on November 1st, 1880 in Berlin-Pankow specialized in the construction of steel domes and steel roof structures. In addition, the company participated in innovative process engineering developments by setting up and operating test facilities. The company's work was regularly featured in contemporary specialist publications.

Company founder
Gustav Alois Bretschneider
Gustav Alois Bretschneider (born August 31, 1850 in Trossin in the Torgau district ; † January 20, 1912 in Berlin-Pankow ) studied engineering at the Charlottenburg Business Academy after participating as an active soldier in the Franco-German War , and joined in the winter semester 1871/72 to the Association of Saxons, later the Corps Saxonia-Berlin. After completing his studies and first practical work experience, he founded the factory for iron structures Bretschneider & Krügner together with Richard Krügner at the end of 1880. When Krügner had to retire from the management of the company for health reasons in 1906, he continued to run the factory alone until his death in 1912.
Richard Krügner
Richard Krügner (born May 18 1853 in Salzmünde ; † June 26, 1936 in Berlin-Niederschönhausen ) began after finishing school in Halle (Saale) for the winter semester 1871/72 the study of engineering and bridge engineering at the Technical Academy Charlottenburg and joined in the same semester to the Association of Saxons, later the Corps Saxonia-Berlin. In 1873 he represented the student body of the Charlottenburg Business Academy at the world exhibition in Vienna . After completing his studies, he initially worked in industry in Berlin, Duisburg and in a leading position in Düsseldorf, before he founded the iron construction factory Bretschneider & Krügner together with Gustav Alois Bretschneider at the end of 1880. In 1906 Krügner had to retire from the management of the company due to health problems due to a serious eye condition. Krugner was a reserve officer. In 1893 he was promoted to captain of the Landwehr .
