Gustav Boettger

Gustav Böttger (born March 29, 1808 in Wurzen , † July 28, 1880 in Dresden ) was a German Protestant theologian and author.

Life

Böttger was the son of the deacon Mag. Johann Carl Böttger in Wurzen. After his father became Sophia preacher in Dresden , he attended M. Haan's private institution in Dresden from the age of 6, in 1819 he switched to the Kreuzschule and in 1826 to the University of Leipzig . After his successful graduation as a theologian, Böttger gave private tuition until 1832, after which he became second preacher and catechist, and in 1834 first preacher at the Ehrlich'schen Schulstift. In 1835 he was appointed city hospital preacher and finally, in 1838, he was ordained as pastor at the Annenkirche in Dresden . At the same time, Böttger was a chaplain at the institute for the deaf and dumb.
