Gustav Brümmer

Gustav Brümmer (born April 23, 1905 in Kiel ; † July 4, 1970 ; pseudonym: Guschi ) was a German watchmaker and senior director of studies at the watchmaking school in Hamburg .

Life

In 1920 Brümmer obtained the secondary school leaving certificate. He learned the watchmaking trade in Glashütte and passed the journeyman's examination in 1924. His examination work is exhibited today in the museum of the watchmaking school in Glashütte. From 1927 to 1929 Brümmer attended the German watchmaking school in Glashütte . He studied at the Vocational Education Institute and at the Berlin School of Management . From 1931 to 1933 he trained as a trade teacher . In his thesis he wrote about "professional training in watchmaking". From 1933 he did a practical pedagogical year at the trade school in Lokstedt - Niendorf . From 1934 he accepted various teaching positions in Hamburg and in the same year married his wife Gertrud. From April 1, 1936 he was a full-time teacher at the vocational school in Lokstedt-Niendorf. The monthly salary amount at that time was 236.37 Reichsmarks.

In 1940 he started as a trade teacher at the state watchmaking school in Hamburg-Altona . In 1944 he became a senior commercial teacher at the same school.

Since then he has written many articles for the journal Die Uhr (organ of the Central Association of Watchmakers). In 1952, he published the book, which is still used today, Technical Calculations for Watchmakers as the third volume in the specialist book series Die Uhrmacherschule by the publisher Hermann Brinkmann, in cooperation with the state watchmaking school in Hamburg-Altona and the Central Association of Watchmakers.

In 1958 he became the technical college director at the state watchmaking school in Hamburg-Altona until he retired in 1968. Brümmer died of kidney failure after years of illness.
