Gustav Chlestil

Gustav Chlestil (born April 26, 1938 in Vienna ) is an Austrian living abroad , now living in Germany. Most recently, he was general director of the Belgian Aral AG, then chairman of the supervisory board until he retired in 1997. From 1997 to 2002 he was president of the World Federation of Austrians abroad, from 2004 to 2018 he was president of the Austrians-World Federation . In 2018 he was elected Honorary President of the World Federation of Austrians Abroad for life and thus continues to occupy a board position.

Life

Gustav Chlestil graduated from a technical college in Salzburg (Ing.) And studied at the University of Economics in Vienna (Dkfm.), After which he worked for Aral AG in the mineral oil industry for 33 years. He worked in Salzburg, Klagenfurt, Innsbruck, Bochum, Vienna and Antwerp. After seven years on the board of the Austrian organization, he took over the Belgian Aral AG in 1977 in cooperation with Burmah / Castrol as general director and later chairman of the supervisory board, until his retirement in 1997.

In addition to his professional activities, Gustav Chlestil was committed to the Austrian Association in Belgium, from 1991 to 2002 as its president. From 1995 to 1997 he was a board member of the World Association of Austrians Abroad, from 1997 to 2002 its president. From 2003, the Abroad Austrians Association and World Association became the Abroad Austrians World Association, Chlestil was first Deputy President, from 2004 President and was re-elected in 2006, 2010 and 2014 for a further four years in this function. In 2018 he was elected Honorary President for life.
