Gustav Ernst (born February 15, 1914 in Rotenburg in Hanover , today: Rotenburg (Wümme) ; † in January 1999 ) was a German politician ( FDP ). From 1967 to 1970 and from 1974 to 1978 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Gustav Ernst is said to have had a higher rank in the Hitler Youth . He had been an NSDAP member since March 1, 1932 ( membership number 1,000,825). From 1936 until the end of the war in 1945 he was in the Wehrmacht . He became a prisoner of war and then worked initially as a construction worker, later as a commercial clerk.

In 1947 Ernst joined the FDP. He became chairman of the Braunschweig district association and a member of the state board. From 1967 to 1970 and from 1974 to 1978 he sat for the FDP in the Lower Saxony state parliament. When Ernst Albrecht (CDU) was elected Prime Minister of Lower Saxony in 1976 , although an SPD-FDP coalition had the majority in the state parliament, it was assumed that Ernst had voted for the CDU candidate. However, he defended himself against this suspicion in court.

Even in local politics, he served as deputy district administrator of the district Northeim operates.
