Gustav Flügel (engineer)
Gustav wing (born September 4, 1885 in Heinersreuth , † August 3, 1967 in Hanover ) was a German mechanical engineer and university professor.
Life
Wing studied in Munich. From 1909 to 1910 he worked as a construction engineer for ship turbines at the Vulcan shipyard in Stettin and from 1910 to 1912 he was assistant at the chair for mechanical engineering at TH Danzig . In 1914 he received his doctorate in Danzig as Dr.-Ing. with a thesis on a new method of graphic integration, applied to flows of ideal liquids in gyroscopes . From 1912 he worked as a design and analysis engineer, then as a department manager and chief engineer for turbomachinery in the AEG -Turbinenfabrik in Berlin. From 1924 to 1945 he was a full professor at the TH Danzig for the subject steam turbines, flow physics and propellers and at the same time worked as head of the institute for hydrodynamics and aerodynamics. From 1948 to 1955, because of his advanced age, he was only a representative of a professorship at the TH Hannover . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . From 1963 he was a corresponding member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society .
