Gustav Jäger (font designer)
Gustav Jäger (* 1925 ; † July 2010 ) was a German type designer .
Life
Gustav Jäger studied at the Offenbach am Main University of Design and then initially worked at Bauer's type foundry , where he designed various fonts based on the principles of Konrad Friedrich Bauer and Walter Baum . Baum encouraged him in the 1970s to design contemporary advertising fonts for H. Berthold AG . Then Jäger developed numerous fonts for typesetting .
In 1982 Jäger designed the Catullus font , which was used for the Google logo from May 31, 1999 to August 31, 2015 .
