Gustav Jördens

Gustav Jördens (born August 12, 1790 in Berlin ; died 1834 ) was a German writer.

Life

Jördens was the son of the literary historian Karl Heinrich Jördens . He studied law in Wittenberg and then held several administrative positions. In 1815 he became a patrimonial court actuary in Görlitz , in 1818 an upper regional court trainee lawyer in Glogau . Since 1819 he was the City Court Assessor and Council Assessor in Görlitz. From July 1821 he went to Leipzig and from then on lived as a freelance writer in Deuben near Leipzig. In 1834 he died by suicide .

Jördens published his mostly short stories in various entertainment papers and magazines such as the newspaper for the elegant world , Becker's paperback for sociable pleasure and Gubitzen's gifts of mildness . In addition, he also published novels and collections of short stories, free translations of works by Byron and Nodier , a collection of Lichtenberg's aphorisms and anonymous anthologies of poetry. After all, he is said to have published rather erotic stories under the pseudonym A. Clauren , which was probably based on the then very popular Heinrich Clauren .
