Gustav Kaleve
Gustav Kaleve (born October 25, 1884 in Rakringen , Lorraine , † August 28, 1976 in Oberalting , Bavaria ) was a German flautist and composer.
Kaleve studied flute in Hanover with Josef Laubender and in Munich at the Royal Academy of Music with Rudolf Tillmetz , as well as teaching composition with Viktor Gluth . He began his career as a musician in 1906 with the Munich Court Orchestra , where he became section leader in 1918. From 1907 to 1940 he was a member of the Musical Academy of the Bavarian State Orchestra .
From 1921 he was a teacher at the Academy of Music in Munich, in 1927 he was appointed professor.
Gustav Kaleve was a firm advocate of playing the conical ring flute . His instrument is in the Heinz Prager flute collection in the Deutsches Museum .
From 1962 he lived in Villa Kraus in Walchstadt with his wife Sabine . Kaleve died on October 25, 1976 in Oberalting in the Seefeld community (Upper Bavaria) .
