Gustav Kielblock
Gustav Kielblock (born January 11, 1843 in Franzburg near Stralsund (Pomerania), † May 17, 1917 in Lichtenberg near Berlin) was an influential local politician in the community or the later city of Lichtenberg.
Life
Gustav Kielblock was a trained chimney sweep and had lived in Lichtenberg since 1879 , at what was then Frankfurter Chaussee 118. He later became head master of the chimney sweep guild. He was a member of the conservative party and the conservative people's association in Niederbarnim district . Since 1887, Kielblock has held several honorary posts: initially on November 14, 1887, he was elected as a representative in the Lichtenberg municipal administration. The office, which one held for six years, took up Kielblock on January 1, 1888. Just three years later, the Lichtenbergers also elected him as community jury. He was re-elected several times in these offices.
Kielblock took on further municipal tasks from July 27, 1907 in the sewerage association committee and from 1908 as an unpaid city council . In the same year he became a member of the municipal authorities in the following working committees:
City Committee (from March 26, 1908), Sparkasse Management Board ( April 7, 1908), School Deputation (from May 12, 1908), Park and Cemetery Deputation, and Fire Extinguishing Deputation (both from May 15, 1908) and Hospital Construction Deputation (from June 8 1908). Kielblock was elected chairman for the following departments: Deputation for the municipal works (from May 15, 1908) and deputation for the administration of the Rieselgut (from 1912).
It can thus be stated that Kielblock, with his numerous honorary offices, which he held for the community and the young city of Lichtenberg in numerous areas for a total of 25 years, had a decisive influence on the development at the beginning of the 20th century. He thus deservedly became the first honorary citizen of Lichtenberg.
In 1912, Kielblock, together with August Kloster , became the first city elder of Lichtenberg by resolution of the magistrate and the city council . That was an honorary position for which particularly artistic city senior diplomas were made.
After Kielblock died in 1917, a funeral service with numerous guests was held in the great hall of the Cecilien Lyceum in Lichtenberg, Rathausstrasse (today's Oberschule am Rathaus ). Mayor Oskar Ziethen held the funeral speech . In addition, a joint obituary of the magistrate was published, which Kurt Dannenberg had signed as head of the city council.
Kiel block was on the former cemetery buried Wagnerplatz. When the religious church was built here, he was transferred to the state-owned Lichtenberg cemetery in Gotlindestraße / Bornitzstraße. His grave was declared an honor grave . The position as an honorary grave expired on December 31, 1995 because the entire cemetery is not a listed building.
Honor
The former street 70 (only a few meters long and providing access to the Lichtenberg city park ) was named Kielblockstraße around 1915.
