Gustav Schalk (writer)

Gustav Schalk (born August 21, 1848 in Vietzig , Lauenburg district ; † November 22 or November 23, 1929 in Zinna monastery , Jüterbog-Luckenwalde district ) was a German teacher and writer .

life and work

After completing his studies, Schalk first worked as a teacher in Berent in the province of West Prussia , then at the International Institute in Grenchen in Switzerland and at the secondary school for girls in Solingen . He eventually left the teaching profession and lived as a freelance writer .

As a writer, Schalk published, among other things, adaptations of Germanic heroic sagas . Some of his works appeared in large editions and some are still available in bookshops today.
