Gustav Vischer

Gustav Vischer (* July 10, 1846 Almersbach ; † March 6, 1920 Stuttgart-Cannstatt ) was managing director of the Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) in Cannstatt and the first chairman of the Association of German Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDMI) .

Vischer, who came from a pastors' household in Mundelsheim , was appointed by Max Duttenhofer in 1891 as commercial director to head the newly founded DMG. He headed it from 1900 to 1910. Until his death in 1920 he was a member of the supervisory board of DMG.

In 1901 he and other directors of the automotive industry founded the Association of German Motor Vehicle Industrialists ( VDMI , now the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA)), and was elected its first chairman.
