Barbara Kunzmann-Müller (* in Bautzen ) is a retired German linguist specializing in Slavic studies .

Life

Barbara Kunzmann-Müller was born in Bautzen . She studied Slavic Studies in the fields of Russian , South Slavic and Polish Studies , also in the field of Classical Philology at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1968 she became a senior research assistant at the Linguistic Institute for Slavic Studies at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR .

Barbara Kunzmann-Müller obtained her doctorate at the Humboldt University in the field of diachronic contact linguistics . This was followed by teaching activities at the Humboldt University from 1975, as well as from 1984 as a research group leader in the field of Slavic Studies .

From 1992 to 1994 Kunzmann-Müller was a research assistant in the field of general linguistics . In 1993 she obtained her habilitation at the Free University of Berlin and was a private lecturer there . She received her professorship in the field of South Slavic languages at the Humboldt University. Kunzmann-Müller became director of the Institute for Slavic Studies at the Humboldt University from 2000, this until 2002.

International activities

Since 1970 Barbara Kunzmann-Müller has participated in international congresses and symposia in which the subject area of ​​South Slavic and South Slavic linguistics and typology was discussed. She has often made academic stays in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and in the former People's Republic of Bulgaria , there at the universities of Ljubljana , Zagreb , Belgrade , Novi Sad , Sarajevo , Podgorica (formerly: Titograd ) and Sofia . She also did guest stays at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in the field of Slavic Studies.

Barbara Kunzmann-Müller also worked on joint projects with the Institute for Croatian Studies at the University of Zagreb and with the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Sofia. In Germany she worked cooperatively in the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft in the field of " Contrast and Correction in the Interaction Area of Lexicon, Syntax, Information Structure and Prosody ".
