Gustave Jaccard
Gustave Jaccard (born June 11, 1809 in Sainte-Croix ; † January 31, 1881 in Lausanne , reformed , resident in Lausanne) was a Swiss politician (liberal), lawyer and editor .
biography
Gustave Jaccard was born on June 11, 1809 in Sainte-Croix as the son of the notary David Jaccard and Marie-Henriette, also born Jaccard. Jaccard, a member of the Belles-Lettres fraternity , studied law at the Lausanne Academy .
Subsequently, Jaccard headed a law firm in Lausanne from 1835 until his death. He was also a canton judge from 1842 to 1846 and 1858 to 1881, including President from 1860 to 1872 . He also worked from 1845 to 1847 as editor of the newspaper "L'Indépendant" , from 1852 to 1856 of the " Gazette de Lausanne " and from 1856 to 1961 of the "Gazette vaudoise" .
Gustave Jaccard was married to Agathe-Elisabeth, daughter of the Lausanne goldsmith Marc Gely. He died on January 31, 1881 at the age of 71 in Lausanne.
Political career
As a party member of the Liberals, Gustave Jaccard sat in the Vaudois Grand Council from 1836 to 1842 and 1845 to 1858 . In addition, he took a seat on the Council of States for the canton between 1854 and 1855 . He was last represented in the Constitutional Council in 1861 .
