Gustavo Alamón da Rosa (born January 13, 1935 in Tacuarembó , Uruguay, † June 23, 2020 ) was a Uruguayan painter and graphic artist.

Life

Alamón, who received his training at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes and with Anhelo Hernández , initially lived in both Tacuarembó and Fray Bentos , where he worked as a teacher. In 1979 he moved to Montevideo. From 1991 to 1994 he lived in Madrid. He founded the Atelier El Sótano in his native city and directed those in Salto , Fray Bentos and Paysandú . He later opened his own studio. Alamón has participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. There he was given various prizes.

In 1981 he received the First Prize in Painting from the Spanish Embassy, ​​which resulted in a trip to Europe. At the 28th Salón Nacional de Artes Plásticas he was awarded the portrait prize. This was followed by a first prize at the Salón del Este para pintura joven and the gold medal at the VII Salón Nacional de Primavera in Salto. In 1979 he received the First Prize at the Primer Salón del Interior in Rocha and the Universidad de la República Prize at the X. Salón Nacional de Primavera in Salto. In the following year he received the first prize at the III. Uruguayan Painting Biennial in Maldonado . He was also awarded the National Grand Prize for Painting at the 47th Salón Nacional de Artes Plásticas and in 1985 as Chevalier des Ordre des Arts et des Lettres . The Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales exhibits his paintings. His works can also be seen in other museums around the world, for example in Punta del Este in the Museo de la Fundación Rally but also in Chile in the Museo de Arte Moderno de Valparaíso , in Paraguay's Museo Paraguayo de Arte Moderno in Asunción , the USA and various European ones Countries.
