Gustavo Bergalli

Gustavo Bergalli (born December 14, 1940 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine trumpeter and band leader of world jazz .

Live and act

Bergalli, the younger brother of the criminologist Roberto Bergalli , received trumpet lessons from the age of twelve. He first played traditional jazz , influenced by Louis Armstrong , and then belonged to Gato Barbieri's band and Quinteplus . In 1975 he moved to Stockholm , from where he worked for the next thirty years. He led his own quintet, was a member of the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra and performed with the Swedish Radio Jazz Group , Bob Brookmeyer , Bob Mintzer , Jim McNeely , Joe Lovano , Jimmy Heath , John Scofield , Phil Woods and Hank Jones . He also played with Michel Legrand's orchestra and the UMO Jazz Orchestra . He toured Central Europe with Klaus Ignatzek and Florian Poser . He has been back in his hometown since 2002, where he has been working with his own Rio de la Plata Group , fusing tango , the folklore of the Río de la Plata and jazz, and performing with the Buenos Aires Jazz Quartet . He can also be heard on albums by Paquito D'Rivera , Pablo Aslan, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse and Carlos Francetti.
