Gustavo Ferreyra ( Gustavo Ferreira ), full name Gustavo Washington Ferreira Briozzo , (born May 29, 1972 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach.

The 1.75-meter-tall offensive player Ferreyra was part of the Central Español team at the beginning of his career from 1988 to mid-1991 . He then moved to Club Atlético Peñarol , for which he was active until 1995. The "Aurinegros" won in this phase in 1993 and 1994 the Uruguayan championship, reached the finals of the Copa Conmebol in 1993 and were only defeated there in the second leg after penalties against Botafogo Rio de Janeiro . In mid-1995 he returned to Central Español. This renewed engagement with the Montevideans lasted until 1997.

National team

Ferreyra was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection , which participated in the U-20 South American Championship in 1991 and the 1991 World Junior Championship .

On May 5, 1991, he made his debut in the 0-1 away defeat against the United States in the Uruguayan senior team , when he was appointed to the starting line-up for Pedro Ramón Cubilla 's first game as national coach. In the following years Ferreyra completed a total of five international matches in which he scored one goal. He took part with the "Celeste" at the Copa America 1991 , in which he was not used by Luis Alberto Cubilla , who is now responsible . He last played on November 20, 1991 in the 1-1 draw against Mexico in the national jersey.

Coaching

Ferreyra struck a coaching career after the active career. At least in March 2011, he was assistant to head coach Fabián Coito for the Uruguayan U17 national team at the U17 South American Championship in Ecuador . Since Coito's inauguration as coach of the Uruguayan U-20 national team in March 2014, he has also worked there at its side as an assistant coach.
