Gutturu Caddi
The fountain sanctuary of Gutturu Caddi (or the sacred fountain of Riu di Saliu or Riu Sabiu) is a structure of nuragic architecture consisting of horizontal, isodomic ashlar layers. It is located about 6.0 kilometers north of Guasila in the province of Sud Sardegna in Sardinia and served in the early Iron Age to the water cult of Nuraghic .
The fountain is located at the foot of a ravine that is bordered by steep slopes and is traversed by the small, only seasonal water, the Riu Saliu stream. The well is part of a nuragic settlement that includes the remains of a second well, some round huts and a rectangular building. The fountain is round in plan (4.7 m outside, 3.1 m inside). The remaining height from the ground is 1.32 m. It consists of a double-clad wall made of local sandstone , the interior of which is well preserved. Four rows of stones of the basin and three T-shaped segments of the outside are visible on the west side. It is possible to see the foundation of the basin on the lower row of stones directly on the natural rock.
Due to the poor condition of the site and the illegal excavations, it is no longer possible to detect a stairwell, as is found in other buildings of this type on the island.
The architecture of Gutturu Caddi shows analogies with constructive solutions such as the fountain by Predio Canopoli in Perfugas , the fountain in the nuragic settlement of Monte Sant'Antonio in Siligo and Santa Vittoria in Serri .
