The Fabritianum grammar school in Krefeld - Uerdingen was founded as a Latin school in 1631 and was only converted into a secondary school with an upper level in 1918 .

The school, which is now run as a grammar school, offers a bilingual course in which geography is taught in English from grade 7, politics from grade 8 and history from grade 9. Since 2015, the Fabritianum has also been certified as a “ MINT- friendly school” due to its expanded range of subjects in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology . An extensive range of music with choirs and orchestras rounds off the school's profile.

The students come mainly from Uerdingen, but also from other districts of Krefeld and from neighboring towns.

history

The auxiliary bishop of Cologne , Laurentius Fabritius , founded a Latin school in his birthplace on the Rhine , which began teaching in 1631, thirty-one years after his death. His coat of arms is a millstone with four six-pointed stars, which today serves as the emblem of the school newspaper "Traces".

The “Fabritianum” experienced an eventful history in the period that followed. School names, locations and buildings changed. It was not until 1918 that it was expanded into a grammar school with an upper level. In 1954 the school moved to its current location. The building erected at that time still serves as an old building today.

In 1975 the grammar school finally became co-educational and an additional building for natural science subject rooms was built.
