The Gymnasium Kirchseeon (short: GK) is the fourth district gymnasium in the district of Ebersberg in Kirchseeon . Neighboring high schools are the Franz-Marc-Gymnasium , the Max-Mannheimer-Gymnasium Grafing and the Humboldt-Gymnasium Vaterstetten .
history
The students as well as the founding school director Gabriele Söllheim and the founding college were welcomed on the first day of school by the then incumbent Minister of Education, Siegfried Schneider . The official inauguration took place on November 26th, 2008 in the presence of his successor Ludwig Spaenle .
In the first school year (2008/09) the school was attended by around 440 pupils from the fifth to the seventh grade. In the following school year the student body grew to around 620.
The founding college comprised 27 teachers, in the second school year there were already 42 and in 2012 it was 68.
In 2014, the first year of upper school passed the Abitur examination .
On December 26, 2015, the founding school director Gabriele Söllheim died at the age of 55.
Language sequence
The school offers both science and technology as well as language training. A special feature of the language selection is that there are four foreign languages to choose from: Latin, English, French and Spanish. A maximum of three of these four foreign languages can be chosen and at least two must be attended. English is the compulsory first foreign language. Only Latin or French can be chosen as the second foreign language. Since the 2015/16 school year, Chinese has been offered as a late-beginning foreign language for students who opt out of their second foreign language.
Furnishing
The high school has three chemistry halls, two biology halls, two physics halls, two IT rooms, two music rooms, two art rooms, a sports hall (2-part), two chemistry practice rooms, two physics practice rooms, two large multi-purpose rooms. The grammar school also has a cafeteria, which offers two different dishes every day.
Structural situation
The high school was the first of its kind to be built using the PPP ( Public-Private-Partnership ) process in a construction period of just over a year (May 2007 to September 2008). There is a free spiral staircase in the auditorium .
Awards
- In 2009 one class (then 6d) won the competition The best class in Germany .
