The Norf grammar school is a municipal grammar school founded in 1973 as the "Kreisgymnasium Norf" in the Norf district of the city of Neuss . With 1211 students it is the largest grammar school in the city. The primary catchment area of ​​the grammar school “is the south of Neuss. Most of the pupils come from Norf, Allerheiligen (Neuss) , Rosellen (Neuss) and Rosellerheide . ”It was named in 1977 when Norf was incorporated into the city of Neuss. The school's motto is "Unity in Diversity".

Awards

In 2016 it was nominated for the German School Prize and received prize money of 10,000 euros. In addition, the Gymnasium Norf is an excellent Fairtrade school and, since December 2017, has also been a MINT-friendly school.

The Norf grammar school building was built between 1974 and 1976 as the “Norf School Center” and is located on Eichenallee. Until the building was completed, lessons took place in the St. Andreas primary school . The sports club TSV Norf has its business premises in the basement of the school building ; the ground and upper floors are used exclusively by the school. The school canteen was set up in 2010. The renovated science rooms were officially opened in 2016. In the center of the school building is the pedagogical center, which is used both as a lounge and as an event center. Next to the school building is the school's triple gymnasium, which is also used by TSV Norf in the evening. The school grounds, which include the caretaker's apartment in addition to the school building and gym, is located directly next to the Norfbach . The Von Waldthausen Stadium with a new artificial turf pitch and a real turf pitch with a 400-meter ash track is also in the immediate vicinity of the school grounds. The annual national youth games take place in the Von Waldthausen Stadium .

There are several parking spaces for teachers and students on Eichenallee and at the Von Waldthausen Stadium.

It is the only grammar school in Neuss that offers an advanced course in sports . Many other subjects are also offered as advanced courses. As a MINT-friendly school, there is also an advanced course in computer science if there is a corresponding demand.

In addition, the school has been offering differentiated opportunities to get involved in online gaming for some time, and the school won the German e-Sports school championship.
