The Rosellen area was inhabited as early as the Stone Age, as is shown by finds from this period. Rosellen was first mentioned in writing in 1281 as Roselden . This was a Jülich manor of 28 estates. In 1307 this was given to the Neuss Quirinus pen. From 1323 to 1794 Rosellen belonged to the Electoral Cologne Office of Hülchrath , then French revolutionary troops occupied the place. Rosellen now belonged to the canton of Zons . In 1815 Rosellen came to the Kingdom of Prussia . In 1816 the municipality of Rosellen was formed with the villages of Rosellen, Allerheiligen, Elvekum , Gier, Kuckhof , Neuenbaum, Rosellerheide and Schlicherum. It belonged to the mayor's office in Norf and from 1927 to the office of Norf . On January 1, 1975, the community of Rosellen was incorporated into the city of Neuss.

Catholic Church

The Catholic Church of St. Peter was first mentioned in 1251. The patronage was initially held by the von Dyck gentlemen. They sold it in 1334 to the St. Georg-Stift in Cologne. In 1846 the church was removed except for the tower and replaced by a new building.

Hermann von Alffter , bell founder from Alfter near Bonn in the 15th century , created a bell for the parish church in Rosellen in 1448.

Jewish Cemetery

The cemetery of the former Jewish community Rosellen is located directly on the city limits of Neuss / Grevenbroich at the lower base of the Gohrer Berg. Gravestones can no longer be found there, instead a Star of David by the artist Anatol has been a reminder of the grave sites that used to be at this point for a few years.
