Gyrinus minutus is a species of beetle from the family of whirligig beetles (Gyrinidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 3.5 to 4.5 millimeters. Their body is black on the upper side and has a faint blue sheen, the underside is brown-yellow. The front of the head as well as the side edge of the body are matt bronze, the edge of the pronotum and the wings are purple. Legs and epipleurs are yellow. The scutellum is keeled lengthways.

Occurrence

The species is widespread in Europe (north to Lapland ) and as far as Siberia , Transbaikal , the Amur region and China and is also found in North America. It is widespread in Central Europe, but less common in the South. The animals are more common, especially in bogs.
