Håvard Vad Petersson (born January 5, 1984 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian curler .

Petersson moved to Kirkenes when he was one year old before returning to his hometown eight years later. At first he practiced different sports, but ultimately decided on curling. There the Norwegian is playing in the lead position today , his club team is the Snarøen Curling Club . He has been participating in major events for the Norwegian national team since 2007, having previously been a member of the junior national team.

As early as 2002 he took part as lead together with the Norwegian team in the B-Junior World Championship, where the team was able to win all games and thus the tournament. A year later she defended the title, again undefeated. In the same year he qualified for the A-Junior World Championship, in which the team was eliminated in the semi-finals and also lost the game for third place, so that it placed fourth. At the next Junior World Championship a year later they also missed the podium, the team even slipped to sixth place under his leadership as Skip (captain). Another year later, this time Petersson was second , at least she moved up one place to fifth place.

After that, the period in which Petersson started as a junior ended, instead it took him two years until he was nominated for his first major adult event for the 2007 European Championship . There his team won the silver medal behind the Scottish, whom they were defeated 3: 5 in the final. In that tournament, as in the next, the Norwegian played as the lead again . After winning the European Championship silver medal, the national team also won the bronze medal at the World Cup the following year . In the same year he defended silver at the European Championships .

At the 2009 European Curling Championships in Aberdeen , Petersson won the bronze medal in Skip Thomas Ulsrud 's team. The team was the first to complete the Round Robin, but then lost the Page Playoffs game against Sweden and the semi-finals against Scotland.

With the same team he won the silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . In the semifinals they defeated the Swiss team around Skip Markus Eggler 7: 5. In the final, however, they were defeated by the Canadian team with Skip Kevin Martin 3: 6. When he took part in the Olympic Games for the second time at the 2014 Winter Games , he played on the position of lead like four years earlier and finished fifth with the Norwegian team. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he came back to sixth place as the lead of the Norwegian team led by Thomas Ulsrud after four wins and five defeats in the Round Robin.
