José Héctor Rial Laguía (born October 14, 1928 in Pergamino , Argentina , † February 24, 1991 in Madrid , Spain ) was an Argentine-Spanish football player and coach .

Career

Héctor Rial began his professional career at CA San Lorenzo de Almagro in Buenos Aires and then played very successfully in Colombia for a few years. There he met Alfredo Di Stéfano , on whose recommendation he was signed by Real Madrid in 1954 .

From 1952 to 1954 he played in Montevideo at Club Nacional de Football and won with the club the discharged on February 25, 1953 final of the Uruguayan national championship the year 1952 .

The technically pleasing striker scored numerous goals at Real Madrid and was the playmaker of the legendary white ballet alongside Di Stéfano. With the club he won the European Cup five times in a row from 1956 to 1960 . Rial took part in four of the finals, scoring 3 goals. At the end of the 1950s, together with Di Stéfano , Puskás , Gento and Kopa, he formed one of the most outstanding storm formations in football history.

In addition to his scoring danger, Rial was best known for his game intelligence and excellent passing game. He not only played a breathtaking short passing game with Di Stéfano, but was also able to hit precise passes up to 40 meters long, with which he often brought the fast Francisco Gento into play.
