Högling is part of the Bruckmühl community in the Rosenheim district . The church village has about 150 inhabitants and is located between Bruckmühl and Bad Aibling .

history

The town of Högling was founded in 1811, but some information suggests that there was a small settlement much earlier. Back then, the famous Salt Road ran right through Högling . Old structures that could remind of this time no longer exist. In the village there are still a few old farms with old framing .

Attractions

  • The 1000-year-old linden tree in the center is an ancient village linden tree. Judgment was once held under her. The 1000-year-old linden tree has already suffered from storms and lightning and large branches have broken off. The linden tree is now almost completely hollow, but it is still green and blooming every year.

St. Martin Church

The former Roman Catholic parish church is dedicated to St. Martin consecrated.

history

The first St. Martin's Church in Höglingen was mentioned in 803 AD. The church shows early Gothic and Romanesque style elements. It is believed that it might have been the baptistery for the area north of the Mangfall . In 1965 the baroque furnishings were removed and valuable late Gothic frescoes were found .

Building

In the west of the Gothic hall (around 1300) with nave and retracted choir rises the tower (around 1500) with a gable roof. The Gothic fresco painting (around 1420) at the end of the choir shows Anna herself with the saints Wolfgang on the left and Erasmus on the right. On the west wall of the tower ground floor, a fresco from the time the tower was built depicts a crucifixion group. The baroque central ceiling painting by Johann Georg Gaill (1758) shows a miracle of St. Martin. The ceiling fresco in the choir shows the recording of St. Martin in heaven through the Holy Trinity . The wooden organ gallery is built into the west of the nave without supports. The parapet is decorated with paintings depicting scenes from the life of St. Martin.

Facility

To the side in front of the fresco in the apse are the almost life-size statues of Saint Korbinian on the left and Katharina on the right of the former, baroque high altar. On the west side of the southern triumphal arch pillar is a baroque crucifix with a Mater dolorosa underneath . Votive pictures are part of the further facility.

regional customs

The Högeln

The word Högeln is an old custom. In the small village of Högling, people were still flogging until 1956. As a result, new citizens and servants were accepted into the local community on church fair Monday. Every single new citizen or servant was lifted up three times and then poured with water. A branch of the 1000-year-old village linden was then stuck into one of its buttonholes. Then you went on to the happy dance with traditional music, beer and lard noodles.
