history

The place was founded around 1811. The village is much older, however, because the Romans probably already had a settlement here. There are numerous grave finds from the time of the Bavarians around 500 AD.

For centuries, two inns (Kramerwirt and Großer Wirt) were located 100 meters north of Kirchdorf on the old salt road . Between 1756 and 1780 a new road was built from Munich to Rosenheim , whereupon the Großer Wirt moved his buildings to today's Staatsstrasse 2078 in 1849.

The largest landowner in the community was the owner of the great landlord. By 1900 he already had around 300 days of agricultural land and owned 20 draft horses. The horses served as the lead for the grueling mountain trips to the Postwirt in Peiß , but he also accepted transports to Rosenheim or Salzburg .

After the end of the war, laborious work began to rebuild the buildings that had been destroyed in the war. On March 31, 1948, the municipality of Kirchdorf am Haunpold was renamed Bruckmühl.

Church and social institutions

The Catholic parish church of St. Vigilius is a late Gothic complex that was built around 1470 and was partially redesigned in Baroque style in 1697. Master carpenter Peter Eisenreich built the tall, slender spire around 1875. At that time the church was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style. From 1917 to 1958 Pastor Stuhlreiter was the pastor of Kirchdorf aH. He also became an honorary citizen of the community.

In 1913 a hospital was built in the municipality of Kirchdorf am Haunpold, which was co-financed by the beer penny . The sick were cared for by the Niederbronn nuns . A small old people's home was attached to the hospital and a few time later the building was extended. In 1980 the hospital was again converted into a school. The old people's home has survived to this day. Now the former school building is the folk music archive of the Upper Bavaria district.

In 1791 the so-called Schlössl was built. At that time it was a bakery that belonged to the Großer Wirt. The chapel comes from the farmer over the Lauser Weiher . During the secularization period , it was neatly removed there and rebuilt in Kirchdorf aH in 1821. The so-called Schlössl is a simple baroque building with a half- hip roof and plaster structures .

The establishment of this inn chapel, which was consecrated to St. Peter and Paul and the Holy Cross, was sold to Upper Franconia .
