Peiß is a part of the municipality and a district of the municipality of Aying in Upper Bavaria .

geography

Peiß lies on terminal moraine hills from the last Ice Age in the foothills of the Alps on clearing islands in the Hofoldinger Forest .

history

In a west-east direction, the former Roman road crosses Via Julia , whose course can still be seen today. Archaeological finds show a Roman settlement, which is called Isinisca . The route is partly used as a cycle path. In 1818 the community of Peiß was established. On May 1, 1978, the municipalities of Helfendorf and Peiß merged as part of the municipal reform to form the new unified municipality of Aying.

Infrastructure

Peiß is located on State Road 2078 from Munich to Bad Aibling and is a stop on Munich's S-Bahn line S 7.

Attractions

The baroque branch church of St. Nikolaus , which was built by Johann Mayr von Hausstatt from 1696 to 1699, is worth seeing in Peiß .
