St. Nicholas (Peiß)
St. Nikolaus is a church building in the Peiß part of the municipality of Aying ( Upper Bavaria ). The Catholic branch church is located on Rosenheimer Landstrasse and belongs to the parish of St. Andreas in Aying.
architecture
The church is a baroque hall building with a pilaster structure , a recessed polygonal choir , a west tower with an onion dome and a sacristy attached to the side . It was built from 1696 to 1699 by Johann Mayr von Hausstatt. The church is surrounded by a massive cemetery wall. There was a previous church on this site since the 14th century, the foundations of which were reused for the new building.
The building is listed as a monument under the list number D-1-84-137-53 in the Bavarian list of monuments.
