List of perpetrators in Kalmar County |
Högsby is a locality ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Kalmar County with almost 2,000 inhabitants (2015) and capital of the homonymous municipality .
The place was an agricultural center in the valley of the river Emån for a long time after the presumed settlement in the early Iron Age . In the 13th century , a church was built here at a Thingplatz where many paths met. At the time of the Dacke uprising , Gustav I. Wasa had the village burned down because the farmers had supported the leader of the riot. No more dramatic events followed.
At the end of the 19th century the place was connected to the Kalmar – Berga railway , which connects it with Kalmar in the south and Linköping in the north. In recent times, the place has been promoting itself as a traffic junction, as two imperial roads ( riksväg ) meet here. Several cheap department stores were built on these streets to supply the surrounding area.
The regular flooding of Emån leads to flooding in the area or to water-filled cellars. So far, the containment of the water has not changed anything.
