The Hönig is a 2034 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Lechtal Alps in Tyrol . The closest places are Brand in the west and Berwang in the north.
Surroundings
Together with the somewhat higher Joch / Sonnberg , the Hönig forms the northwestern branch of the Lorea Group . The steep, mostly treeless flanks have a lush flora in early summer, while in winter they characterize a classic avalanche mountain.
Ascent
The Hönig can be reached from two sides via marked hiking trails without major difficulties, but when it is wet the earthy trails are slippery.
- From Berwang over the western flank
From Berwang south-west in a further loop over the Kögelehütte to the insignificant Sattelkopf (here also shorter from Brand) and further without difficulty on an earthy path to the summit. 2 hours from Berwang
- From Berwang through the Älpeletal
From Berwang through the Älpeletal on a partially slipped, damp and narrow path (avalanche remains until the summer) to the Sonnbergsattel and on to the wide grass ridge. 2 hours from Berwang
