The Hörsterholzer Bach is a flowing water in the Bochum district of Dahlhausen . It flows along the streets Hörsterholz and Im Ruhrort. The brook flows into the Ruhr between the Dahlhausen station and the railway museum .

The pingen and dump tongues in his valley indicate an older opencast mine. The mining in Stollenzechen probably began around 1770. For the United General & Erbstollen colliery, the General Coal Railway was built at the beginning of the 19th century . Today the Dahlhausen mining trail leads through this valley.

The water quality of the stream is between I and II. The animal species include the fire salamander , the common frog and the newt . The last 1500 m of the stream was originally in the area of the works of Dr. C. Otto and have been straightened. The last 700 m of the stream are completely piped. A partial renaturation of this section is conceivable.
