Hürben is a district of Giengen an der Brenz in the Heidenheim district in Baden-Württemberg . The place is in the Hürbetal .

history

Hürben was first mentioned in a document in 1171. An Otto de "Hurwin" received a fiefdom from the Herbrechtingen monastery .

In the Middle Ages, Hürben came to rule Heidenheim over several changing lords, including from 1227 to 1286 by the Counts of Dillingen , from 1286 to 1385 by the Counts of Helfenstein and from 1385 by the Lords of Rechberg to the Heidenheim rule and was pledged to Ulm in 1442. In 1448, Hürben fell to Württemberg with the rule of Heidenheim and has been part of the Heidenheim office ever since. In 1449 the imperial city of Ulm, in alliance with other imperial cities, had the castle in Hürben destroyed.

During the implementation of the administrative structure in the Kingdom of Württemberg , Hürben first came to the short-lived Oberamt Giengen in 1806 and then back to the Oberamt Heidenheim in 1809 . The administrative reform of April 25, 1938 during the Nazi era in Württemberg led to membership in the newly formed Heidenheim district . After the Second World War, the place fell into the American zone of occupation and thus belonged to the state of Württemberg-Baden , which was incorporated into the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.

The formerly independent municipality of Hürben came to the city of Giengen an der Brenz on January 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .
